GARY AYUSTE
Gary A. Ayuste, founder of Beengo Farm in Tunga, Leyte, is a passionate advocate for bees and sustainable farming. A former OFW, he returned home after missing his flight—twice—just days before his mother passed away. In her memory, he took up gardening, which led to his unexpected path in beekeeping.
In 2017, he established Beengo Farm, a bee and mango sanctuary that offers eco-tours, organic food, and free honey education. It has since become a recognized learning site, promoting bee conservation and sustainable agriculture. Mr. Ayuste also formed the Empowered Farmers Association, supporting 22 local housewives with livelihood opportunities.
Beyond the farm, he donates bee colonies to schools, teaches students about the role of bees in food security, and leads environmental initiatives like tree planting and river cleanups. A certified beekeeper from UP Los Baños, he continues to educate and inspire communities across the country.
Like Ramon V. del Rosario, Mr. Ayuste turns personal hardship into lasting impact—championing bees, empowering farmers, and building a future rooted in sustainability.
