JB TAN
JB Tan, Executive Director of iVolunteer Philippines, envisions a nation where every Filipino contributes to nation-building through volunteerism.
His journey began in 1997 with church volunteering, which later expanded to community outreach. As a Computer Science graduate of De La Salle University, he founded CLAY (Computer Literacy Advocates for the Youth), which provided free computer training to public school students and teachers.
In 2009, after witnessing the overwhelming desire to help during Typhoon Ondoy—but also the lack of accessible volunteer opportunities—JB co-founded iVolunteer Philippines with Bel Padlan. It became the country’s first volunteerism platform, helping individuals easily find causes aligned with their passions, while supporting NGOs in recruiting skilled volunteers.
Over time, iVolunteer evolved into an education hub for volunteerism—offering orientation sessions, community meet-ups, NGO engagement training, and corporate talks. Its major initiatives like GO! Volunteer Expo, BayaniRun, and Time Please further amplify the call to serve.
Today, iVolunteer has mobilized over 123,000 volunteers and supported around 300 communities. JB believes real success lies in transforming casual volunteers into sector leaders and changemakers.
In 2017, he co-founded The Good Store, an online marketplace that empowers community-based enterprises—providing ethical, sustainable products made by Filipino farmers, mothers, and youth.
While working a full-time job, JB continues to grow these platforms through digital innovation and community partnerships. His work embodies the values of the Ramon V. del Rosario Siklab Award—entrepreneurial, impactful, and deeply rooted in service.
